Dear Industry Colleagues,
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to confirm that the annual Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion (TTM+ 2014) will be held as scheduled from 4-6 June, 2014 at the IMPACT Muang Thong Thani Exhibition and Convention Centre in Greater Bangkok.
We would like to assure you that the current political situation in Thailand has not much affected the overall event. General Prayuth Chan-ocha, leader of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), has explained, “ The council’s key objectives are to ensure a reform of political, economic and social institutions in order to bring out peace and order to the kingdom.”
As such, life goes on as per normal in Bangkok and throughout Thailand with a nationwide curfew (from 22.00 – 05.00 hours) currently being the only implication on people’s everyday lives. The NPCO annoucend that the curfew would not be in place for too long, and so we are commited to bringing you the update as soon as it has been lifted or its hours have been relaxed.
We also would like to assure you that since the NCPO has taken over the administration of Thailand, all tourism-related businesses and services in Bangkok and throughout Thailand continue to open and operating normally, but operating hours have been adjusted to comply with the curfew.
All airports in Bangkok and througout Thailand, as well as other modes of transport both inter-city and inter-provincial, including by mass transit system, road, rail and waterway, are operating as normal. All airports are open and welcoming all scheduled and chartered flights as normal, but other modes of transport have adjust operating hours to comply with the curfew.
Air passengers with arrival and departure flights scheduled during curfew are allowed to travel to and from the airports at any time as usual, and airport’s authorised taxi are available 24 hours.
We are closely monitoring the situation, and would like to inform tourists and the tourism industry that we and all concerned public and private agencies in Thailand will exercise utmost efforts to ensure visitor’s convenience during the event’s period as well as at any other times.
The TTM+ 2014 is the biggest travel business to business trade fair in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). Under the theme, Experience with Us, there will be more than 400 booths showcasing travel products and services from across Thailand and the GMS countries.
